BEHIND THE SONG

«Van Gogh» was the last song written on September 10th and recorded on September 14th, 2023. The narrative of the song, inspired by a fleeting relationship that occurred a month prior, represents a phase of anger. The lyrics introspectively focus on the «what could have been» and the hope of finding an answer in an unrequited relationship. The recording of the song proved difficult, as I had undergone wisdom tooth surgery and developed a general infection by the end of the recording session. Undoubtedly, it was a unique experience that I would not repeat.

THE VIDEO

The music video for «Van Gogh» references the parallelism shared by the two individuals involved in this relationship, each expressing in a unique way the anger and frustration resulting from things not working out as expected. Directed by Houssam Mahdi, a close friend of mine and a talented photographer, the goal was to represent anger and resentment through various actions, including vices and emotional decay. The video was filmed over a span of four hours on September 8, 2024, in the city of Vancouver, Canada. However, due to external issues, the editing was completed on December 27 of the same year, under the supervision of Omar Alsharabi and produced by Darien Romani, to whom I am deeply grateful.
