BEHIND THE SONG

I wrote this song during a 12-hour layover at Benito Juárez Airport in Mexico while waiting for my flight to Peru to record the EP. Being the first track recorded in the studio, this composition seeks to represent the final stage of grief: acceptance. However, it takes on a more introspective and self-centered perspective, as the person, despite having gone through this stage, denies themselves the possibility of falling in love again. I appreciated giving this perspective to the closing of the EP, serving as a direct reference to those who repress their emotions as a result of a romantic breakup.

CONTEXT

Without a doubt, it is one of my most cherished memories. I went out with someone who was on an exchange program. It was one of those stories that, by their nature, you know are too good to be true, and you’re aware that they will inevitably come to an end. However, I am grateful to that person for making me feel something genuine again and helping me rediscover happiness. Regarding the song, it is a parody and dramatization about someone who falls in love with a person who is only seeking a superficial connection—like falling for your friend with benefits.
