BEHIND THE SONG

My favorite song from the EP is titled Langara, named after the district where I settled in my first home upon moving to Canada. This piece narrates the experiences lived in that room I shared with someone with whom I envisioned a future, making it my most personal composition to date. Written on September 4, 2023, and recorded on September 12 of the same year, Langara tells the story of a love triangle and the breakdown of both a friendship and a romantic relationship. It also represents the stage of depression in a breakup process, where one comes to terms with the reality of the past.

CONTEXT

I remember the day you knocked on my window, asking to come into my room for a moment to talk. You said you wanted to come back, that you had cleared your mind and were certain about your decision. But you also mentioned that if we were to start over, there could be no secrets between us. That’s when you confessed—you had slept with the person I cared about most while we were still together. You revealed that the two of you had made a pact to keep it from me, but in the end, guilt pushed you to speak. I hope that one day, people will know what you did that last night in the room.
